Myers & Company Architectural Metals offers quality products, the ability to find creative solutions, and personal, reliable service. This has resulted in an excellent reputation for ornamental and custom metalworking in Western Colorado. The company dates back to 1975, when founder Bob Myers began custom blacksmithing in Aspen. Expanding upon this knowledge of metals and the demand for skilled professional craftsmanship, the company now employs over 100 people. Myers and Company continues its commitment to creative artisan metalwork, and has expanded to meet the demand for locally fabricated and installed structural steel with an expanded plant to serve homes, businesses, and public places in Colorado’s resort communities.

Ornamental Metalwork

Remaining at the core of Myers & Company is ornamental metal work for custom homes and commercial applications. According to ornamental VP Stuart Edgerly, “With ornamental metal, we cross boundaries between artistry and technical mastery. We take a vision and make it real, technically sound, and enduring.”

The artistic vision can start as simply as a home owner’s idea, or come in a more detailed form like an architect’s or interior designer’s drawings. The project team works with the clients to develop detailed designs, and then artisans craft the designs using iron, stainless steel, bronze, copper, or any other form of metal. In order to achieve the highest level of quality, Myers & Company takes field measurements, manufactures to the desired dimensions, and installs.

Architectural metals are essential to designs for mountain living, as they complete the space, add luster, and give the design a sense of timelessness and permanency. Custom metalwork can execute the designer’s vision in traditional, mountain lodge, or contemporary designs.

First in Colorado, and now throughout the west, homeowners, designers, architects and builders rely on Myers & Company Architectural Metals for artisan railings, balustrades, fireplaces, kitchen range hoods, chandeliers, pendants, sconces, lanterns, and doors. While masters at time-honored blacksmith techniques, the ornamental metal craftsmen also employ the newest advances in technology like plasma, laser jet, and water jet techniques. They are proudly affiliated with the Artist Blacksmiths of North America, the National Ornamental and Miscellaneous Metals Association, AISC, and ASA.

Located in Basalt, convenient to Colorado resort communities, they make collaboration easy and give each project the uncompromised attention required for truly artistic, custom work. Structural Steel Fabrication “Snow load, accommodating large spans, and the flexibility to handle daring and challenging designs make structural steel the preferred choice for mountain resort construction,” says Structural VP Gib Plimpton of Myers & Company Architectural Metals. “As a local full-service steel operation, we have the advantage of simpler logistics, so we can be on the site when we are needed,” he adds.

The advanced technology used at Myers & Company makes the transition between design and fabrication easier. Their well-established systems use advanced 3-d modeling techniques to convert the architects’ or engineers’ drawings into build-able pieces and connectors. Myers and Company fabricates the components, delivers them to the jobsite, and in many cases handles the installation. Because they are local to the roaring Fork Valley, coordination, transportation, and service are all simplified for the benefit of the customer. The 3-d modeling systems used by Myers detailing staff allow for close coordination with the architect and engineer to identify and correct problems early in the process before they become a problem in the field. This ability to spot problems and address them early in the process lowers overall costs to the client because design problems that are discovered later in the field are much more troublesome and expensive to correct.

Structural steel fabricated by Myers & Company Architectural Metals can be found in resort homes, commercial buildings, and prominent public gathering places, such as aspen’s music Festival tent.

Myers & Company operations are consolidated into a convenient five-acre site in Basalt. It is in these new facilities that you can meet with the designers to enter upon the path of making your concept for decorative metal a reality.

The people at Myers & Company encourage all types of customers to give them a call, homeowners, contractors, architects, engineers, and interior designers. As company founder Bob Myers says, “Our aim is to take concepts to reality through knowledge, experience, technology, and craftsmanship.” For ornamental iron contact Stuart Edgerly. For structural steel contact Gib Plimpton.
