Rooflines that follow the angles of the surrounding slopes and forest, a footprint that veers around a favorite boulder formation, windows that catch the best views at the right time of day, and woodwork smooth from a craftsman’s hand tools are all things we hope for in a custom home. Ron and Shelley Rosenberger agree, and these are things you can expect from their firm, Rosenberger Construction.

For thirty years, Rosenberger Construction has designed and built homes with a commitment to quality craftsmanship and materials. Setting his firm apart, Ron says, “Some builders build by the square foot. We like to build homes by the square inch, and we pay attention to every one of them.” The interiors reflect this with custom hand textures, faux finishes, stonework, detailed iron railings, and lighting controls sensitive to creating an ambience to match every mood.

Shelley agrees with Ron, saying, “There really isn’t a consideration that’s too small or an interior detail that is too subtle. It has been our tradition for over 30 years.”

Ron and Shelley Rosenberger are natives to northern Idaho and perhaps knowing and appreciating the area for so long is why their designs seem so appropriate to the landscape. Each project is uniquely tailored to reflect not only the individual tastes and needs of the client, but also the unique features of the land and its surroundings.

“One of the things Ron really enjoys is going out to the property with the client. He can get a true sense that way of the beauty of the site and the preferences of the client,” recounts Shelley. “It is key to understanding the topography, views, native vegetation and features that can be preserved.” She adds that a good site understanding results in configuring the best spaces for outdoor living.

Rosenberger Construction has found that their best creative designs result from working openly with their clients. “We really celebrate their suggestions and innovations,” Ron explains. “You see the results in some of our most exciting projects.”

Just as no two custom homes are the same, Rosenberger Construction recognizes that the design and build process needs to be flexible to the degree to which the clients want to make their own decisions or to trust their contractor to make selections, allowing clients to be as involved as they want to be.

Rosenberger Construction established a design process that recognizes the varying requests of clients to be involved and the necessity of clarifying and establishing a design and budget up front. The design process has proven to provide clients with communication from start to finish inclusive of schedule, decisions, and budget in a manner that homeowners report makes building the home exciting and fun. The design process occurs in two phases.

Phase I starts once there is a selected lot and a basic house plan, and Ron Rosenberger avails himself to help with both beforehand. At the preconstruction meeting, Rosenberger Construction and the client discuss whether room sizes and storage are adequate, and whether more space is required and other design changes are needed. Then they talk about standard exterior and interior finishes and what upgrades to surfaces, tile, flooring and appliances are desired. Naturally, if the client is working with an interior designer, the designer is welcomed into these discussions. After the meeting Rosenberger gets bids for any additional materials, draws the changes, and then reviews these with the client. Their agreement results in a contract and a budget so the client can go forward confident about costs and that there will be no unwelcome surprises.

Rosenberger Construction’s design process second phase involves interior and exterior selections. The Rosenberger team works closely with clients during this phase. For interiors, there are many decisions for paint color, stains, cabinet wood and hardware, plumbing fixtures, lighting, appliances and trim. Clients work closely with a design team to explore the array of alternatives and make the selections to fit both their lifestyle and budget. The exterior of the home makes the first impression, and here the team can assist with choices for exterior lighting, colors for the body and trim, type and color of stone, and stains for wood accent shakes. Many people have come to love Rosenberger Construction’s signature “Lodge Look,” and they can guide clients in how to achieve the best results.

Throughout designing and building a home, careful communications are the constant thread. Shelley comments, “Customers find our communication key to the project’s success and their enjoyment creating their new home. From our point of view, we gain an opportunity to create something fabulous and different every time.”

This design process has proven successful from projects varying in size from 3,000 square feet to 8,000 square feet, and from family homes to luxurious vacation getaways. Permitted to build in both Idaho and Washington, Rosenberger Construction is a frequent favorite of home shows, and award-winner at Parade of Homes. A registered Master Builder and member of the North Idaho Building Contractors Association, Rosenberger Construction has carefully built its reputation for quality and reliability, and is committed to making the Inland Empire a better place.

To see the home quality Rosenberger Construction offers, there are two developments where they are the exclusive builder, the Rocking R Ranch north of Hayden Lake and Chanticleer Estates by the Avondale Golf Course. Another alternative is to make an appointment and stop by the of- fice to talk with Ron and Shelley Rosenberger and thumb through their extensive design portfolio.
