Building or remodeling your ‘dream home’ should be one of the most satisfying and rewarding experiences in your life. At Shively Construction, we use our expertise to guide our clients through the process as smoothly as possible. We want to ensure that the final product meets or exceeds the owner’s expectations. Our commitment to quality has helped hundreds of people to achieve their dreams.
Most of our clients come to us soon after they purchase a lot. They like to have their builder involved from the beginning of the home design. We often help direct them to architects, engineers and interior designers that will be able to work well with them to achieve their ultimate goal.
You will want to consider a series of questions to help you determine how your home will ultimately be used. Do you have children? Do you have grandchildren or extended family that will be spending a lot of time with you? How do you entertain? What types of formal and informal area are you interested in? How much square footage, how many bedrooms and baths, what type of art do you like, and do you want an exercise or media room? What type of budget do you have? We often suggest that you make a list of what is most important for you to have in your home and what is least important. All of these things help us to understand how we can best assist you and guide you in the right direction.
We are often involved in meetings with the architect to discuss design aspects. This gives us the opportunity to review for construction methods, suggest materials and offer advice that can often save time and money. Upon receipt of final plans and specifications we do a comprehensive estimate to determine the cost and offer any additional suggestions.
We have been building in the Yampa Valley since 1983 and have a vast knowledge of the unique characteristics of building in the mountains. Many home sites are steep or have soil characteristics that require special engineering. Years ago, we started using forklifts and our own tower crane to help increase the construction efficiency and reduce building costs for our clients. We often suggest to our clients that they use construction materials that require lower maintenance. Each custom home we build is unique and requires an organized and systematic course of construction with checks and balances to insure that nothing is forgotten and everything is done properly. Many of our key employees have been with us for 10 to 20 years; they are qualified and committed to completing your home to your satisfaction. Over the years we have established long-term working relationships with subcontractors and suppliers that share our commitment to quality, detail and scheduling. They understand the importance of completing the project on time and within your budget as we do.
